How To Choose The Best Desktop Replacement Laptops
Have you decided to replace your old desktop PC with a brand new laptop? If so, when looking for the best desktop laptops there are a few things to consider:
Laptop Processor
If you choose a CPU compatible with your laptop, gaming laptop under 800 make sure you choose a powerful processor so you can handle whatever you throw at it. New powerful CPUs like the Intel Core 2 Duo or AMD Turion 64 X2 are some of the best options today to be installed on the best desktop laptops. Please note that the higher the CPU level, the more heat will be processed by the processor, and the higher the battery life of your best gaming laptop under $800
Laptop Memory
System RAM on your laptop is an important factor to consider when choosing your desktop switch. Don’t be too expensive when it comes to RAM, as you will be cursing the day you bought a portable computer with only 512 MB resolution. As a general user, your goal should be somewhere in 1GB of RAM, but if you are a strong graphic designer, the same goal should be significantly higher at 2GB and above.
Graphics Card
If you are a solid player, then your laptop should carry one of the latest mobile graphics solutions from Nvidia or ATI. Some new laptops have come out even with two graphics card configurations via SLI (Scalable Link Interface). As a player, you should never go to laptops that carry an integrated graphics card. If you are not a player, a video card with 256MB of image memory should suffice for most applications and movie viewing.
Data Storage – HDD
Some ordinary users do not consider the Hard Drive configuration of a portable computer as they are not interested in storing large amounts of data on their computer. If you are a regular user, then your laptop should carry a hard drive somewhere within 100GB.
If you do a lot of work, or just want to improve your multimedia collection, then a portable computer that changes your desktop should be somewhere in the 250GB – 500GB. Some new portable models carry even two drives and can be configured at RAID Level 0, l or 2.
You need to make sure your hard drive has a minimum rotational speed of 5400 RPM. Some newer versions have 7200ROPM drives, so they get a good increase in speed.
High-end laptops are equipped with the new Solid State Disk Technology, which does not use disk drives to access stored data, and are the fastest hard drives to date. These options offer faster start times, have a much lower weight on them and are more resistant to mechanical shock.
The SSD is still very expensive, and the drivers themselves offer low storage capacity (32 – 64GB range), but have longer life and increased speed.
Until prices go down a bit, a traditional hard drive with hard disks is recommended for your portable computer that replaces your desktop.
Laptop Optical Drive
If you prefer a laptop instead of a desktop, you should choose one that has a decent optical drive, usually a DVD burner, that can record CDs and DVDs. Driving speed is directly proportional to its value, so faster driving is more expensive. You can even go looking for new Blu-Ray disc burners, but these upgrades are usually more expensive, though they offer real HD movie playback and the ability to heat up to 50GB of information on dual Blu-Ray discs.
Laptop Casing
Weight loss will be followed by fatigue and constant tiredness. While some laptops have a standard plastic case, those with metal case are highly recommended as they emit better heat and thus save a lot of battery life and CPU in the end.
Plastic is a thermal protector, so it is not recommended for high-temperature portable computers (these have high CPUs for example).
Wireless Internet connection
Integrated 802.11 Wi-Fi Wi-Fi networking is a feature that you should look for on a portable computer that replaces the desktop. Since your laptop is a portable computer, you need to make sure that internet connection is possible while on the go. If you want to increase the breadth of your internet connection, you should look at laptops that allow you to use WWAN modules, which will give you internet access through cellular networks.
Laptop screen
You should always look for the right balance between portability and screen size. Laptops can go very high with a diagonal screen size, but to keep it simple and easy to handle, choose a standard 15.4 inch one. You should also check image quality if you need to use a portable computer to watch movies – DVDs and Blu-Ray Discs are very high in quality these days.
Some laptops can go to screen sizes up to 20 inches, but this is not recommended as they are much larger than their 15.4 inch counterparts.
Also, the backlight of the laptop’s screen should be LED, as those with fluorescent tubes tend to have a shorter, heavier life and increase energy consumption.
Also, if you want a desktop switch that will allow you to make video conferencing happen, you should look at laptops with a built-in web camera.
