GHAZIABAD: A 10-year-old boy kidnapped for a Rs 15 lakh ransom was allegedly stabbed to death as he tried to escape his three captors. Among the three accused who were arrested on Thursday was the minor boy’s cousin, who allegedly held on to his legs as the others pierced the knife into his abdomen and slit his throat. The minor boy had been reported missing from outside his residence in Khoda colony on April 11. Two days later, his body was found in a sack in a park in Noida Sector 54.
According to police, Priyanshu Singh (18), the boy’s cousin, had planned to kidnap the Class IV student to get some money that would fund a lavish lifestyle. His two associates were Raju Kumar (19) and Aakash Kumar (18), all from Khoda.
Aakash, the police said, had joined the two others as he urgently needed money for his mother’s appendix surgery and his father’s gallbladder operation. SP (crime) Diksha Sharma told TOI that the boy was playing outside his house around 6pm on April 11 when Priyanshu lured him with a piece of chocolate. The 10-year-old was last seen on a scooter with Priyanshu and the two other accused. “They took him to a park in Sector 54, gave him a bar of chocolate and tied his hands to a tree. When the boy pleaded with them to let him go, Raju slapped him and asked him to keep quiet. After trying for almost an hour, the boy managed to untie himself and started to run. Priyanshu and the others gave him a chase and pinned him to the ground. As he tried to resist, Raju whipped out a knife and stabbed him in the abdomen. They also slit his throat. All this while, Priyanshu held on to his legs,” Sharma said.
The three allegedly put the body in a sack and hid it behind a tree in the park. They then returned to their houses in Khoda colony around 9pm.
Abhay Kumar Mishra, circle officer 3, said the minor boy’s family frantically searched for him in the colony and approached the cops only the next day. A case of kidnapping was lodgedagainst unknown persons followinga complaint.
“We checked CCTV footage of the area and found the boy accompanying the three on a scooter. We detained them for questioning, but they denied any knowledge of his whereabouts. After sustained questioning, Aakash admitted to have kidnapped the boy for Rs 15 lakh and killed him as he had started to shout. The boy’s body was found in the Noida park around 7pm on Wednesday,” Mishra said.
