NEW DELHI: Amid rising Covid-19 cases in some states and fear of emerging new variant of SARS-CoV2, Union health minister Mansukh Mandaviya reviewed the situation and took stock of XE variant on Tuesday. In a meeting with senior officials and experts, Mandaviya gave directions to boost the ongoing monitoring and surveillance of new variants and cases.
He also asked the officials to constantly review the availability of essential drugs and medicines required in the treatment of Covid-19 patients.
Later, while playing down apprehensions about the XE variant, Mandaviya stressed on the need to maintain precautions.
He stressed the need to maintain precautions as the pandemic is not yet over.
Addressing a press conference at the BJP headquarters where he spoke in detail about the central government’s measures to deal with the Covid pandemic since its outbreak in 2020, Mandaviya said it is up to experts to decide as far as starting vaccination of children below 12 years are concerned.
The health minister also said that prices of Covid-19 vaccines are expected to fall further as multiple companies will now start offering competitive pricing.
