GHAZIABAD: A 35-year-old man died after some unidentified persons allegedly smashed his head with bricks following a heating argument over parking outside an eatery on Loni Road in Ghaziabad on Tuesday night.
A video of the incident was widely circulated on social media platforms. The video was recorded by a commuter. In the video, a man was seen smashing bricks on the victim’s head.
As per the police, the deceased was identified as Arun Singh alias Varun, a resident of Jawali village in Loni.
He was the son of a retired inspector of Delhi police and used to run a dairy farm in the village.
Gyanendra Singh, SP City-2 told TOI that the incident took place around 9pm.
“Varun had gone for dinner along with his two friends – Deepak and Sanjay. Varun parked his car outside the eatery and went inside. After some time, some youths came and parked their car just adjacent to the Varun’s car. When Varun returned and he was unable to open the door of his car,” the officer said.
“Varun called the car owner and after that a heated argument was exchanged between them. Soon, it turned into a fight and the accused smashed Varun’s head with bricks. After the incident, the accused fled from the spot. Varun’s friends informed his family about the incident but didn’t take Varun to hospital for treatment and left the spot. Later, the family members reached the spot and took Varun to GTB hospital for treatment but doctors declared him dead on arrival,” he said.
