Meta, which owns the app, confirmed that the glitch has been fixed, though the company had not explained the reasons behind the outage. “We know people had trouble sending messages on WhatsApp today. We’ve fixed the issue and apologise for any inconvenience,” a Meta company spokesperson has said.
Pressed further for reasons, the spokesperson had told TOI, “The brief outage was a result of a technical error on our part.”
Vaishnaw did not comment on the competition commission’s action against Google after finding it guilty of abusing monopoly.
