Simple Energy today announced that it will start the deliveries of the Simple One electric scooter in the first half of 2023. The manufacturer states that the delay in deliveries is due to the recent battery safety guidelines issued by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH). The Simple One electric scooter now adheres to the new guidelines, says the company.
The company states that it empathises with the customers that have pre-booked the electric scooter in August 2021. It added that significant measures have been taken to make the scooters as safe as possible.
“Adhering to the new battery safety guidelines issued by the government, Simple has taken a call to defer the deliveries of Simple One to thus ensure that our vehicles are certified as per new standards. Safety has been our priority since the beginning. The scooters delivered will be the best in class scooters that are safe, and futuristic. We appreciate the patience and the love that the customers have showered on us,” says Suhas Rajkumar, Founder & CEO, Simple Energy.
Simple has already conducted the test rides for customers to experience the Simple One in different cities, such as Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Pune, Goa, Ahmedabad, Indore, Jaipur, Delhi, Lucknow and Bhubaneswar. The Simple One electric scooter price starts from Rs 1.10 lakh for the base variant and Rs 1.45 lakh (both prices are ex-showroom) for the top variant. Customers can pre-book the Simple One electric scooter at an initial amount of Rs 1,947 on the official website.
The Simple One electric scooter will be produced at the manufacturing facility in Hosur, Tamil Nadu. Moreover, the company has also commissioned its second plant in Dharmapuri, Tamil Nadu that has an annual capacity of 12.5 million units.
